CLOSED ROAD SURVEYING! Green Ridge 177, Larimer County, Colorado
Saturday August 3rd we had the pleasure of driving Green Ridge Road 177 from Chambers Lake up to Deadman area inspecting some issue spots along the road, along with options for re-routing around these areas.
Prior to this trip I had some some google earth recon and identified what looked to be an existing route that tied into a timber sale area, after finding it yesterday and scoping it out, it's highly likely that you'll see the final push to the mud hole blocked off, and the trail re-routed to the west to skip that horridly deep mud hole (that while fun for some) is a major point of contention with the specialists that have a job to do keeping areas prestine.

Saturday July 20th Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery sent a team up Moody Hill just west of Fort Collins Colorado to recover a Chevy Traverse that tried to descent the steep hill near County Road 44H. An analysis of the road conditions at the bottom yielded a pretty unanimous decision that the only way out wa...

    the problem is the power wagon isn't meant for towing. That's why its tow capacity is about the same as a 1/2ton truck.

  • @NulodPBall
    @NulodPBall 2 дня назад

    So I tried TLDR and skipped to what I thought were the important parts and felt dumber for still not understanding why the X-lock was needed, so I forced myself to start from the beginning where I was reminded that the more line you have on your drum, the less towing capacity your winch has (forehead slap). LoL, because I used to help run 6 43 ton (bridge weight) off-road trucks and we only had a side mounted PTO rated for 5,000 pounds and we were very aware of how to get the most out of what we had (use the radio to call another vehicle LoL. Usually you were stuck because a wheel went into a bottomless pothole or mud ridge and all your other 5 foot tall wheels were spinning and you needed just enough assist -you hope- to get that wheel up). An X-lock does make sense if you don't have a convenient anchor point that allows you to maximize your winch's pulling power. Now if it could only help you when your dumb friend goes into the water you told him not to, and you dug yourself into the soft, fine sand using your jerk strap so now you are both sitting on your frames connected by a really tight rubber band...

    It's actually impressive if you watch close. Many times when it was teeter tottering the traction control did a good job of locking the wheels that were in the air. Still way too much of a trail for a front wheel based AWD vehicle to drive. When you all said you were smelling clutches it was actually probably the brakes overheating from the traction control. Probably a rental so the driver didn't care until there was a chance of the type of damage they would have to pay for. Thanks for the video!

    If you buy a new Ram/Jeep..... Open the TIPM and push any fuse down *click*, repeat for every fuse/breaker/relay. None of the fuses are fully seated which creates an open electrical bridge at the base of the fuse contact. If you live near Salt water or where roads are chemically treated, the aerosolized salts will condense at the electrical bridge created by the fuses. I have had a '16,17,20,21,23,24 model FCA/Stellantis and found this to be the case(unseated fuses). In every case I seated them fully and not only had no issues as a result, but have had literally no electrical issues. I'm sure the TIPM is populated by robot, they look exactly the same and uniform, but the fuses are not seated. *some of the above is opinion/speculation but it is founded in experience that supports them.
